Our time in Windermere

After another bus journey through some magnificent scenery we arrived to a rather cool and wet Windermere. The bus did have some difficulty navigating the tight roads but we did get there eventually!
The school is set on a steep hill with beautiful old buildings.
As the local pool is closed for renovations it is soccer and netball only on this stop. All girls got involved in these games.
The first game was a soccer match straight after our arrival. It was a tight affair with the score nil all after the full time whistle. The heavens opened within a minute of the final whistle so we all scurried down the hill to shelter. The girls headed off with their billets, or for some, to the boarding house for the night.
The following morning was free time with billets or for the "lucky" ones they spent the morning with the staff.....
Our afternoon was an action packed netball game. As the weather was still rather damp we played inside. Unfortunately the school had just had a power outage so the game was played in dim conditions until the power was returned at 3/4 time. As we spread all of the girls through out the game the score line was up and down. With our stronger team on in the final quarter we surged to a comfortable lead winning 44 to 30.

We are off to York this morning for some sight seeing. I
I have been having difficulty uploading video footage due to Internet/wi fi connections. I will try to upload the videos ASAP.

Our morning at Lymm

Last night the girls were spoilt by their hosts and the staff were treated to a beautiful dinner in Lymm, courtesy of the Lymm school. The hospitality displayed at each of our visits has been mind blowing!
This morning our girls came in prepared for a tough netball match. Chelsea and Jason took the opportunity to do another swim session as well.

Road trip!

This morning we had a small swimming session prior to leaving our wonderful hosts, Leweston and commenced what should have been a 4 - 5 hour bus journey to Lymm.......7 hours later we arrived! Such is the traffic in the UK when an incident occurs on any of the major roads. Our bus driver, Nigel, has done a fabulous job of transporting us around.

Due to our late arrival the girls were off the bus and onto the soccer pitch in the blink of an eye. The Lymm girls were excited to see us and quickly descended upon our group. Lots of chatting prior to the game was a great ice breaker for all.

Once the game commenced it was soon apparent that the Lymm girls were a skilled team. The game consisted of 3 x 20minute periods. The first 15minutes was tight with neither side giving ground, Lymm then scored two quick goals to establish a lead. The next period saw a couple of the Lymm players, one who plays for Manchester United, assert their dominance on the game. It was a special to watch some of the skills on display. Our girls played brilliantly, their game improving every time we go onto the pitch. After Mr Russo's team pep talk at the last break the girls were fired up. Britt was the "hero" of the team when she scored a beautiful goal in the last 2minutes of the game. As we are sure we heard the official announce that the last goal wins, we believe we can claim the victory!

Leweston day two game day

After our day trip we returned to Leweston in pouring rain to prepare for some friendly competition.
Chelsea and Jason headed to the pool where they had the facility to themselves. It was a great opportunity for some one on one coaching as well as plenty of time to put in some good km's!

Meanwhile there was a game of netball in progress on the indoor courts. The game had to be relocated due to the rain. Firbank secured a win for our A team. It was a fairly evenly matched game with our team proving to be stronger in the second half.
Our B team played with loads of enthusiasm enjoying a more social game. Leweston proved to be too strong for the B team seeing us go down in this match.

It was decided that the girls would brave the weather for the soccer match.
2 x 20 minute halves were started with Firbank getting off to an early 1 goal lead thanks to some brilliant individual play from Kat.
